A busy term
Well time has sped along and we have come to the end of an action packed school term! Thank you to all students and staff for your hard work and excellent contributions to the John Wollaston school community over the past ten weeks. It has also been wonderful to see so many parents supporting students and staff through their attendance at events such as the Secondary Parent/Teacher Interview Evenings; inter-house and inter-school carnivals; House breakfasts and school assemblies, including our very special Easter Eucharist that was held today. Thank you all for your support. We look forward to your continuing involvement over the coming weeks.

Year 8 Encounter
The inaugural Year 8 Encounter that was held from Monday 27 to Wednesday 29 March at the Swan Valley Adventure Centre has been proclaimed a huge success! Students and staff were engaged in a range of activities and courses including mountain biking, high ropes, commando run, swimming, raft building, team work challenges as well as participating in a glamourous ‘op shop’ disco. A big thank you goes to the event coordinator Mr Jones, as well as to the Heads of House and staff who attended this character building experience.

Secondary Colours Assembly
This week’s Colours Assembly highlighted some terrific student achievements. Swimming age champions and runners-up were awarded their trophies and inter-school representatives received Colours for their effort. Honour Colours were awarded to Dylan Bailey for representing WA in the Australian Athletics Championships in Sydney and also to Ashlee King for her membership of the WA U/18s State Cricket Team at the National Championships in Hobart. The School's highest award, an Honour Blazer was awarded to Sophie Hill for representing Australia in the Synchronised Ice Skating International Competition in Salzburg, Austria. Matilda Cuthbert from Year 8 was also recognised as Student of the Month for March.

Congratulations also go to the following Year 7 students, for their successful election to their respective House Councils for 2017.

  • Charter: Daniel Roughton, Madison Tokeley
  • Hale: Eloise Henneberry, Dominick Mukherjee
  • Ramsden: Charlotte Adam, Jake Passmore

On Wednesday 29 March, Year 9 students Carmina Farano, Keeley Smith, Taylah Asmus, Taylor Prothero, Matthew Ford, Matthew Little, Joshua Bydder, Ashlyn Trouchet, Jordan Mazzola and Teliah Godfrey participated in the da Vinci Decathlon at Wesley College. Congratulations to the team for your hard work and resilience and also for achieving a first place in the Art and Poetry category!
