A successful term for the John Wollaston community
This has been a very successful term and I would like to thank you for the great support you have shown the School during these past weeks. The positive tone was set in February at the P&F Picnic and Entertainment event which saw 1000 people relaxing in the grounds on a warm summer evening. It was a terrific occasion for both longstanding and new families which we look forward to reprising in 2018.

Subsequently there has been excellent attendance at parent information seminars, parent teacher evenings, three - way conferences, swimming carnivals and other school events. Thank you, too, to the parents who have volunteered in various parts of the School, visited our new Chalk Café, attended excursions, assemblies, Harmony Day or the Year 7 Encounter at Fairbridge. Your children gain so much from your active interest in their education and the busy life of the School.

End of term farewells
This term we bid farewell to eight students who move on to other schools in WA, the Eastern States and overseas. We thank them for their contribution to John Wollaston and wish them every success in the future. We have two departing staff members: Mrs Rhiannon Muirhead (Education Assistant) is relocating to Melbourne with her family and Mr Glenn Bird (VET Careers Coordinator) is moving into industry. We acknowledge their fine service to the School and wish them well. Ms Sharon Hanson (Head of Library Services) and Mrs Sharon Jones (Art Technician) leave us temporarily to take some well deserved Long Service Leave.

Many of you would already be aware that our beloved Crosswalk Attendant Gim (Jeannie) Quandt is moving residence these holidays and is likely to be redeployed to another school site before the end of the year. Neither Jeannie nor the School know when that will be. Jeannie has been involved with the School from the early days as a parent and employee. We will miss her friendly, cheery demeanour and great care of our students. Thank you Jeannie!

Easter Service
This morning the school community gathered for our annual Easter Service, led on this occasion by The Right Revd Jeremy James tssf Assistant Bishop of Perth. Riley the donkey led the Procession of students, staff and clergy to begin the holiest celebration for Christians. Through the season of Holy Week and Easter; most particularly Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Day, we recognise that through Jesus' life, death and rising; our past, present and future are changed. Easter is the promise of new life for all.
