House Shout – Beatles Songs'
Over the coming weeks our students will be learning a song make famous by the Beatles as part of a new initiative, the House Shout. This is a singing competition between each House which includes all students from Pre-Primary to Year 12. The House Shout will be performed during Founders' Day next term on Friday 11 August. The whole House will perform together. Parents are warmly invited to join us in celebrating our House spirit at this event. Ms Ford will be Chief Judge and determine the winning House. Your child may bring home lyrics for his/her song and will hopefully practise with you, particularly over the holidays! You may like to involve the whole family in singing practice; there may be some grandparents and great grandparents who have fond memories of the Beatles.

The following songs were drawn from a hat at the Primary Assembly by the Secondary House Captains:

  • Charter: Twist and Shout
  • Hale: Help
  • Ramsden: All You Need is Love
  • Scott: Love Me Do

Our students are very excited and I thank Samantha Trinidad, mum to Jayde and James, for a present for my office – a Beatles drum kit, as pictured here. Apparently Grandad is a big Beatles fan!

Reports on SEQTA – Information Session
This semester, student reports will be available on SEQTA. You will receive a message that will let you know when they are available.

I would like to provide you with the opportunity to meet with myself and Fiona Currey Deputy Head of Primary Teaching and Learning on Tuesday 27 June from 8.30am to 9.30am after breakfast at the Chalk Café. During this session we will explain our new format on SEQTA. This will be a great opportunity for you to ask any questions about SEQTA and reporting at John Wollaston. Please join us for a coffee at the Chalk Cafe.

SEQTA Engage for Semester 2 Reports
All families are reminded that Primary and Secondary reports will be available at the conclusion of Term 2 via SEQTA Engage. Performing Arts Festival
A number of schools will be performing at the Independent Primary Schools Heads Association (IPSHA) Performing Arts Festival on Wednesday 21 June at 7:00pm, including the cast from John Wollaston Anglican Community School. Our students will be showcasing songs from Pirates! The Musical. Please note that this is not the John Wollaston performance of Pirates! The Musical. Separate tickets are available for this production.

Please come and support our wonderful performing arts students at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. Firstly, complete your ticket purchase using Trybooking and print a receipt. Bring your receipt to Primary Reception to collect your ticket from Donna Brown Primary Secretary.

Inter-House Cross Country
What an excellent day of cross country events! The morning event on our ovals featured the students from the Early Learning Centre who all tried their very best in running around the circuit with determination and zest. The Year 6 student helpers were wonderful in assisting the ELC children. Thank you to all the ELC parents who came to support the event. The afternoon at Champion Lakes provided a wonderful natural setting and we were all proud of some excellent long distance running across all year groups. As always, we congratulate all students for their caring nature and participation in the Inter-House Cross Country, whatever their final place in the race.

Thank you to Ms Mel Fowler for again organising a brilliant cross country event for all of our Primary students. A great deal of work is involved and we are all fortunate to have such dedicated staff at our school.
