A Day of Hope
GuestSpeaker Nice 1SMALL
Our Year 11 students have just enjoyed a full day seminar with Mr Glen Gerreyn from The HopeFull Institute. Glen spoke with our students about the amazing power of the human mind and reminded us all that we have everything we need within us to achieve all our hopes and dreams.Glen encouraged our students to find their true purpose, the things that they are genuinely passionate about and to chase their dreams with full commitment. He reminded students that anything worth achieving will always require commitment, hard-work and belief. Glen challenged the Year 11s to face their fears and challenges head on and to not let failure or self doubt move them off their chosen path. Glen provided the students with many real life examples of people who had achieved a dream despite the many setbacks and failures they had experienced. Glen’s messages were powerful, poignant and inspiring for all in attendance.

During his presentation Glen provided the students with one of my favourite quotes from the famous American basketballer, Michael Jordan:

“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”
American basketballer, Michael Jordan.

I encourage all Year 11 parents to speak with their sons and daughters about the inspiring messages they received from Glen during his presentation.

School Uniform Presentation
I would like to remind all students and parents about the importance of wearing our school uniform well. I particularly request that all students ensure that:

  • All aspects of the uniform are clean and in good repair
  • School shoes are clean and polished
  • Skirt lengths must be on or near the knee line
  • School blazers are worn to and from school and during all formal occasions such as Chapel and Assembly (Years 8 – 12)

Founders' Day Friday 4 August
Founders' Day to be held on Friday 4 August will be a highlight of Term 3. This is always a terrific day for our community beginning with a whole school Founders' Day Service in the BDISC led, this year, by the Chaplain of Frederick Irwin Anglican School, The Reverend Noel Oakey. You are most welcome to attend. The traditional stalls and games will operate for the afternoon with all funds raised going to Anglicare. Parents are most welcome to attend the Founders' Day Service, which commences at 9:00am.
