City of Armadale Youth Free Music and Arts Event
FRAMED Cirque 2017 A5 flyer V2 web

The City of Armadale puts on an annual youth music and arts event each year to showcase the talent of young locals and help them develop their passions and skills. FRAMED Cirque is a free drug, alcohol and violence free youth music event for 13 – 17 year olds and will be held on Friday 18 August.

Last year we had three talented local bands selected to perform to the booked out event and receive cash prizes and recognition including a band from Armadale SHS and Cecil Andrews College.

I would like to encourage you to please invite any of your talented students who may be interested in performing, to still apply through our website as I have decided to take late applications due to the school holidays.

The tickets are free but are required to enter the event which was fully booked last year.

Ticket bookings have opened this week and can be booked through this website:

Rowing Results
During the school holidays our rowers were out on the water competing in two regattas. The first regatta was a Pennant regatta in which you row for your club wearing their club zoot suit. The second regatta which was held on Saturday 15 July was the All Schools  Regatta 3 in which compitetors represent their school.

The weather wasn't very good as it was rainy and blustery which was a challenge for the rowers at times. The JWACS  rowers competed in their various single divisions in which they all placed with some exciting close finishes just missing out on placing first.

JWACS had a mixed Year 10 quad with Tiffany Trainer, Bridget and Regan Axford, Rhys Du Ross and Zane from Guilford Grammar School who has coxed them in their previous races. The JWACS team had a good race and at one point two other boats were very evenly matched with us. Our team remained focused and put the pressure on when needed which enabled them to obtain a good lead. This resulted in them winning their race five seconds ahead of the team that placed second. This is their third consecutive win.

The next All Schools Regatta will be held on Saturday 12 August. This will be the last regatta so everyone will be competing for the championship in their divisions. It promises to be full day with all rowers putting in their best efforts which will make for some exciting races.
