Year 6 Valedictory and Exhibition Monday 27 November - evening
Excitement is building for our much-anticipated end of year Primary events. The Year 6 Valedictory and Exhibition takes place on Monday 27 November. This is a special ‘rite of passage’ for our students and I look forward to each student lighting a candle as we celebrate and mark the transition from the Primary years to Secondary School.

The opening of the PYP Exhibition takes place immediately afterwards, and for the first time the exhibition will be in the new Upper Primary building. All members of our school community are welcome to view the Exhibition on Tuesday 28 November between 8:30am-10:30am. We look forward to seeing you there.

Primary Praise and Thanksgiving Tuesday 5 December 8:50am
To conclude the school year, we have our Praise and Thanksgiving service on Tuesday 5 December, beginning at 8.50am. All students Year 2 to 6 are required to attend. We have academic and citizenship awards for each class, other special awards, musical performances from the Junior, Senior and Year 4 Choirs, the entire Year 5 Ukulele Ensemble and our Strings Ensemble. At the end of the service, all students and parents will form a ‘guard of honour’ for the Year 6 students as they walk back to their classrooms for the last time in Year 6. Students can go home with parents at the conclusion of the service.
All other students must be collected by midday as school closes for the year at 12 noon. Please note the Early Learning Centre students (Pre-Kindergarten to Year 1) finish school for the Year at 3:00pm on Friday 1 December.

Year 2 Encounter Rottnest
On Thursday 16 November the Year 2s enjoyed a fantastic day on Rottnest Island! The weather was certainly warm, and a great time was had by all. A big thank you to Kirsty Robertson and the Year 2 team for organising such a wonderful Encounter experience. Thank you also to the many staff who attended and were able to make such a wonderful day possible.

Orientation Day for new students Years 1 to 6
The Orientation Day for Years 1 to 6 today provided a great opportunity for our new (2018) students to spend a morning at John Wollaston, and our current students were excited to spend some time in their 2018 classrooms. The 2018 Year 5 and 6 students were able to explore the new Upper Primary Building and appreciate the many features of this new area.

Orientation Morning for new Kindergarten parents
This Wednesday 15 November we also held an Orientation Morning for new Kindergarten parents to our school. I welcomed all families, introduced the Health Department Nurse, Pat Lafferty and Acting ELC Coordinator, Ella McKean, outlined the philosophy of our Early Learning Centre. Then each family moved to their respective Kindergarten class for more specific information.

There is a waiting list for the 2018 Kindergarten program, and it was wonderful to see so many familiar faces from our Pre-Kindergarten Little Wollies group. This year we had far more parents join us than ever before for Orientation, with over 60 adults all appreciative of the opportunity to learn more about our school.
